About Reading Comprehension

Reading comprehension tests whether you can follow the argument of a text, not just its words. You read a longer passage and answer multiple-choice questions on main ideas, detail, attitude, reference and vocabulary in context.

What it tests

Each exercise presents one text (often adapted from an article, review or report) with several questions, each with four options. Questions follow the order of the text, and each has evidence you can underline.

How it appears on the exam paper

You will meet different texts across the paper. Budget your time by the number of questions, and always justify your choice with a phrase from the text — if you cannot point to it, the answer is probably wrong.
